Finn lives in the present, favoring the present over the future when making decisions. He tends to react without thinking, his decisions based upon whichever action is immediately appealing rather than a reflection on long-term consequences.

A related trait is his sheer enthusiasm: he wants to act immediately because he's just that excited about his job. He's not yet jaded through centuries of abusing his powers in Zaida's service and while he's been training at court for decades he still finds his powers to be interesting and fun, and he still enjoys working with his minions to achieve a shared goal. His enthusiasm tends to be infectious, so he usually has little difficulty convincing people to go along with his ideas.
